Bar stools
can be a fantastic addition to a home or a business. They can provide a
practical, comfortable and casual kind of seating for you and your family, for
your employees and for your customers, and they are incredibly versatile for
use in a wide variety of settings and applications. However, if you want to
choose your perfect bar stools, the ones which will prove most useful
and provide the greatest possible benefit, there are a few important factors
that you really should consider.
Back
One important
thing to think about – in fact, more important than a lot of people think – is
whether the stool has a back. If it does not, then it is probably only suitable
if it is only going to be sat in for very short periods and will probably not
be as comfortable as one which does have a back. This is because back support
and simply having something to lean back on account for a very large part of
what makes a seat comfortable. Having at least a small back to provide some
crucial support can make an awful lot of difference to overall comfort.
Height
There are a
couple of things to consider when it comes to the height of the bar stool.
Undoubtedly the most important is the question of whether the height of the
stool is adjustable. Adjustable height stools are far more useful than static
ones. Not only can they be adjusted to suit the height of the surface they are
being used with, but also for each individual user to help them find their
ideal, comfortable sitting position. A gas lift mechanism will make the process
of adjusting the height almost completely effort-free. In the event you do
consider static height stools, make sure they are a suitable height for the
surface they will be used with. This is probably not something you need to
consider with adjustable-height stools, unless the surface is unusually high or
low.
Swivel
Swivelling is
very useful in a stool. It allows the occupant to find their perfect sitting
position and effortlessly move their attention between different things in
different directions without straining themselves. Perhaps most importantly,
though, it is useful for dismounting. Bar stools are very good at many things,
but shuffling backwards and forwards isn't one of them. Without swivelling,
this leaves the occupant with a choice between staying well back from the bar
or having trouble dismounting, but with swivel action dismounting becomes easy
from any position.
Padding
Padding
plays an important role in how comfortable a stool will be, especially if it is
going to be occupied for a little while at any one time. A padded seat can do a
lot to prevent numbness and ensure that the stools occupant remains comfortable
no matter how long they remain perched upon their stool. A padded back, while
less important than the seat, can also make a definite difference and help the
stool provide the greatest possible amount of comfort.
